I designed an intuitive app for an advanced vehicle using Rightware's Kanzi software — a streamlined onboard display for simple in-car controls, paired with a companion smartphone interface for more detailed functions like data entry and unlocking.
I was tasked by Rightware to design an intuitive app for an advanced vehicle using Kanzi software. My goal was to simplify the interface to control basic car functions—from window adjustments to temperature settings—making each screen function as an easy-to-use button. After initial trials, I prioritised practicality, ensuring the design would be feasible within five years.
The integration of smartphone and onboard display posed a challenge. Initially focusing on the onboard display, I found the smartphone essential for complex inputs. Therefore, the onboard display was streamlined for simple tasks, while the smartphone managed detailed functions like car unlocking and data entry. This approach resulted in a straightforward and effective user interface.
